Don’t Stop Believing

 March 2014 Insights

The other day my 11 year old daughter very candidly asked me if I knew whether or not Harvard University has a dance program. When I asked why she wanted to know she simply responded by saying that “since I plan to attend Harvard after I graduate high school, I’m hoping to still be able to dance, because you know mom that really is my true passion and though I don’t want to be a professional dancer I still want to be able to “seriously” dance.”

Wow, was all I could think! Of course as her mother it’s my job to support and encourage her but at the same time I couldn’t help but wonder if maybe I should sit down with her and gently explain that the likelihood of her getting in Harvard University was pretty slim while at the same time maintaining a rigorous dance program would certainly be biting off more than one can chew. Relationships

Are they lifting your spirits up or dragging you down?

February 2014 Insights

What better month to write about the importance of cultivating healthy relationships than February, the month we celebrate Valentines Day. The quality of our personal relationships has an enormous impact on our mental, emotional and physical well-being. Think about it, unless you are shipwrecked on a deserted island, most of us are involved in numerous types of relationships. These relationships may include romantic, friends, parents, children, siblings, coworkers, neighbors, mentors/teachers and of course the often forgotten about relationship with ourselves.

How we chose to experience our relationships can determine our level of happiness. Yet many of us never stop to consider whether as a whole our relationships lift our spirits up or drag us down. I’d like to take some time in this Month’s Key’s to Success Insights and identify those qualities that typically make up a healthy relationship while also make some suggestions on how to better manage those relationships that drain us. Reflecting On The Year Passed

December 2013 Insights

It may be surprising for some to hear but I’m not big into new year resolutions. You see as a life coach I hate to limit myself and my clients to resolving to “get going” on our life ambitions based on what the calendar says. I’d like to think regardless (winter, spring, summer or fall) that there’s no better time than the present to create positive change in our lives. I am, however, a big proponent of taking the last few days on the calendar to reflect upon the year passed as I believe it will help set the stage for greater success all through the new coming year. As I have shared with you in past posts, I believe the most essential component to creating greater success and fulfillment in one’s life is having the right frame of mind. Whether you are looking to enhance your health & well-being, social & intimate relationships, professional endeavors or personal growth, how you view the aspects of your life most important to you, will be the determining factor in your level of success in any of them. This is where having a “personal buy-in” becomes key to “having it all”. (more…)

Six Foundational Strategies to Achieving Life Balance

June 2013 Insights

Looks like last month’s post struck a cord with a number of you! It seems many women share the feeling that they are chasing their tails in pursuit to “having it all”.  Most women agree, balance is one of the greatest goals in their lives but it appears to be as elusive as it is desirable. However, it doesn’t have to be that way, as I shared in last month’s insights, it really just boils down to three main elements. First, and foremost is understanding and respecting each and every important aspect in your life (addressed last month). Second, is obtaining the right tools and strategies to navigate those aspects in your life and third is having the personal/emotional buy-in to succeed in them. In this month’s Keys to Success Insights I will share six common strategies that all women need to consider in order to enhance greater life balance. (more…)
